Firstly I need to apologise for being a BAD blogger, it’s one week since my last post and I blame my job entirely. I’m currently working on an intense project which involves spending almost my entire working day writing, re-writing and amending text so by the time I get home, much as I love my writing for my blog, doing yet more writing doesn’t feel very appealing.
This week has been a three way split of eating out (reviews to follow) pre-prepared food (hangs head in shame) and Nigel Slater recipes. Mr P&P got me his Real Food cook book for Christmas and this week it got put to the test. I adore Nigel Slater’s recipes, I have four of his books and watch his television series religiously, but I’m not actually that keen on him. Something about him makes me feel a bit uneasy and I’m not sure what it is. Like him personally or not though, his food is fan-fucking-tastic.
Despite not being the healthiest of weeks (again) I enjoyed all of it very much, the mushroom sandwich once slathered with dijon mustard, lemon juice and peppery rocket leaves was almost meaty in it’s taste and definitely one of the highlights. The breaded plaice was another, simple and really delicious.
I also need to big up the Waitrose “Dine in for £10” deal.. in my opinion it pisses all over it’s competitors, including the original one from M&S. There were loads of choices available for the main course, very unusual for me to pick lasagne but I was in the mood for comfort food and two of the other options contained mushrooms and/or olives which I knew Mr P&P would instantly turn his nose up at. The chocolates were delicious and to my delight it was a two tiered box as well.

On the menu next week is: Pad thai, roast rabbit stuffed with apricot and walnuts served with potato and turnip bake, Pork belly (not sure how I’m going to cook that yet) and confit duck with braised lentils.
I will do my best to be a better blogger next week as well!
