A few of my favourite things #1

I’m not hungover, my fridge is full, my room is tidy and I’m feeling productive, which given that it’s Sunday is an absolute bloody miracle.

I used to do a weekly post called ‘best of the rest’ in which I talked about everything I’d eaten that I hadn’t already blogged about. I was thinking about starting this up again, but after quite a few people tweeted me to say how much they’d enjoyed my festive post which talked about life in general, I thought I might do a regular post about my favourite things from the week.

A lot of these photos come from my Instagram account so just follow me on there if you aren’t interested in reading my ramblings.

Nige’s latest book <3

This was my Christmas present from my best friend Emma, I have pretty much all of his books and this is definitely one of the best. I’ve road tested three of the recipes so far and once I’ve done more I’ll do a full review on here in a couple of weeks.

Soup for lunch

This wasn’t a New Year’s resolution as such, but my eating a huge lunch in the work canteen each day was getting a bit out of hand (financially and on my gut) and I bloody love soup.  This is cream of tomato and basil soup with pasta shapes.

I cannot EVEN…

This was an impulse purchase in Waitrose to boost my spend to £10 so I could get my parking ticket validated, and oh.my.god. it’s friggin’ AMAZING.  It also looks incredibly easy to make, I’m definitely going to be giving it a go in the next couple of weeks.

Eggs Royale

The Kemp Town deli and brasserie in Brighton is one of my favourite places to eat breakfast, their Eggs Royale is TO DIE FOR as is their fry up.  I did a post on the best place in Brighton to have breakfast which I’m planning on doing an update for very soon as I have a new winner…

A healthy snack

I know that almost everyone won’t see seaweed as a viable alternative to crisps, but honestly, don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it.

Sunset over Brighton beach

I feel like I’m forever banging on about living by the beach, but I absolutely love it, and after living in ‘the ghetto’ for a year I’ll never take it for granted again.  On the couple of days last week that it wasn’t pissing with rain there were some absolutely gorgeous sunsets, I can’t wait until I’m actually home from work in time to watch them on the seafront.

The story of my life…

A few more things I’ve been loving this week:

– Ruth’s beauty and lifestyle blog: beauty, reviews, the most beautiful boots ever and her gorgeous cat Mr Bear.

– Brighton blogger Susie’s food blog. We met on Twitter and have been out for a meal (and a lot of booze) twice, she’s lovely and we’re scarily similar too.  We’re checking out the Cantina Supper club next Friday so will report back on what it’s like.

– Teaching myself to resize images using HTML!  Just looking at code makes me want to vom so this is a MAJOR achievement!

– Exotic mo’s Instagram

– Celebrity Big brother, I know I know but it is so car crash it’s good.

– The word ‘svelte’.

What were your favourite things from last week?  Tweet me or post in the comment box below (you don’t have to have a blogger account), I love reading your comments and get back to each and every one of them.

Ooooh I'll have to check it out Gary! Celeriac rosti topped pie and squid with almonds and olives are next on my hit list!

Love your blog by the way 🙂
