After 2013, AKA the worst year of my adult life, I was ready for someone up there to cut me some slack… and guess what, 2014 hasn’t been a bad year at all.

I don’t want to do the whole ‘new year, new me thing’, I do that after every heavy weekend, every birthday, every pay day even, and the fact of the matter is, the only time I will stick at something is if I want to. So rather than hypothesising about what I should or shouldn’t have done, I thought I’d focus on some facts, stuff I learnt this year and will, through choice, be carrying over into 2015:

– I’m more ambitious than I thought.
– Minimise contact with people you don’t want to see or who are a negative presence in your life- it’s brutal, but my god is it liberating. Read this article about removing toxic people, it will help to alleviate any guilt about doing so. Time is precious, don’t give it to people unless you want to, you’ll never get it back.
– I’m even more hopelessly addicted to social media than I was last year, and it probably needs to be addressed…
– I got involved in a mentoring scheme, and it’s honestly one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. I never ever saw myself as the volunteering, or the mentoring type, but it’s teaching me an unbelievable amount.
– People treat you how you let them treat you, if you carry on letting them treat you badly/take advantage of you, then that’s your fault.
– I need to think about the way that I phrase things more, especially when I’m.. aerated.
– My favourite thing about my blog this year has been the amount of engagement I’ve had with the people who read it, I only want this to increase in 2015.
– To be kinder, wherever possible.

New Year’s resolutions:

– Swear less
– Only drink fizzy drinks at weekends
– Start a scrapbook

Here’s the beginnings of my scrapbook…

So there you have it 2014 is nearly done and dusted. New Year’s Eve is not my bag at all, so I’ll be spending it in my happy place (my bed) eating cheese and watching films b2b scrolling through various social media channels- wild times!

Whether you’re staying in with the kids, having a meal out, getting off your nut at a warehouse party or just working- HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all and thanks for sticking with me, I love you long time <3

Here’s some of my favourite moments of 2014 in photo format, they’re non food-related, random and in no particular order. For those of you who’re interested, I’ve done a post entirely related to my favourite Brighton food 2014, here. Enjoy!
