I’ve totally flopped at being a blogger the past week and I’m not feeling very pleased with myself about it. I’ve just been throughly consumed in other things, which, bar one, are done now, so it’ll be full steam ahead in the coming week as other than work, I am under house arrest from Tuesday until Saturday morning.
Why am I under house arrest? Because, and don’t laugh, I’m doing a juicytox 4 day juice cleanse. I’ll be keeping a daily diary which I’ll be turning into a blog post/review and posting on Sunday, instead of a favourite things post. My social media will no doubt be telling the tales of my woe as well, so don’t forget to tune in, or possibly, tune out…
*I started with the very best intentions on Sunday night, but despite that, this post is coming to you on a Saturday, because I’ve been asleep by about 10 every night and today’s the first day I feel in the right place to be able to even think about writing about food.Happy Birthday Curry Leaf Cafe
I love the Curry Leaf Cafe, so much and was lucky enough to be invited to their 1st Anniversary meal as their guest. I’ve reviewed it twice: here and here, and this time, although a different set up as the main course was buffet style, was still just as good. I entered the raffle too, and won an ice-cream cake from Boho Gelato! I bloody love winning so it was the icing on the (icecream) cake of a really lovely evening. If you haven’t be already then you need to go, and if you have, you need to go again.
Yes, you did read the caption right, I shit you not. I found this absolute beaut of a recipe for Crispy lemon cauliflower on Closet Cooking blog, and made it for one of my few Vegetarian friends whilst she interviewed me for her radio show. The flour/egg/breadcrumbs thing is always a bit of a faff, but entirely worth it in this case, the dish honestly wasn’t any the less for not having meat in, and it’s not often I say that. I’ll definitely be making it again. I’m thinking it might be nice with broccoli too.
Yes, I know, I have a problem. I just can’t help it, and 4 for a tenner from Fragrance Direct? I’d have been mad not to. I’ve currently got two coats of Geranium (far right) with a top coat of Seche vite and I’m on day 4 with no chips and a bit of tip wear, which to me, is impressive. They’re £7.99 in Boots so £2.49 is an absolute bargain and they usually have a really good range of colours.
Sugardough Hove gets a second branch!
That’s right, my beloved Sugardough is coming to Brighton, in the Lanes, where the Starbucks used to be, right next door to The Breakfast Club! Oh my daaaays, I am so excited. Both will be in-situ by the end of May and I’m going to be a regular. Serious big up to Sugardough, they are going to smash it in Brighton.
The above photo was taken nearly a year ago today, when I was on garden leave from work for a few months and totally loving life, it combines lots of my favourite things, and makes me smile.
Looking at this photo and imagining the taste of the sweet, sweet food in it is almost more than I can bear. I WILL write a full review once I’m no longer nil by mouth and writing about food doesn’t make me want to cry.. but yes, go, it’s great- lovely atmosphere and venue, great food and the owner is charming. They don’t do Twitter but they do have a Facebook page.
Sorry if that was a bit of a lacklustre favourite things post, It’s hard when I’ve not eaten since Monday! Business as usual from tomorrow morning onwards, promise.
