These are a few of my favourite things #71

So after months of silence in terms of favourite things blog posts, I sat down last night to write about something else altogether and this was what came out. It’s the end of my birthday week, and to be honest, if I could ctrl>alt>delete this entire month I would, but I can’t, so I’m going to focus on the positives and you’re all going to have to listen, cos it’s my Birthday, ho ho ho.

I love reading blog posts/watching YouTube videos about what people did and got for their Birthday, so when I post about these things just know that i am not trying to brag and be a dick about it, I’ve just done it for the last four years (gulp) and it’s always gone down really well. So here it is my Birthday and some other favourite things from October.  It’s good to be back!

Not that they don’t always, but my friends and Mum really pulled out all the stops this year; thoughtful presents, obscenely expensive makeup palettes, photo collages (thanks Jenna), meals out and coffees & cake on the beach amongst other lovely things, messages and FaceTimes which, I managed to long out over the week, as usual.

The Chilli Pickle

Set of Scales

Over the course of my Birthday celebrations I managed to rack up an impressive number of meals out including Flank, The Chilli Pickle, UniThai,  Pizza Express (sorry Fran),  Set of Scales and Egg & Spoon- and I’ll be putting reviews up of the first three soon.

Sidenote- I tried to go back to Bincho Yakitori for lunch on my actual Bday but apparently they only open evenings now as they weren’t getting the lunch time trade, which is such a shame. Check out of my review of it and get yourself down there for dinner- it’s incredible.

I just ate the last slice of this for breakfast…

I feel like I need to live off homemade soup and lots of veg for a while, as pretty much every single thing I’ve consumed this week has contained at least 1000 calories, minimum… she says troughing her umpteenth slice of Birthday cake.

Speaking of my Birthday cake, a massive shout out to my Mum for making me my favourite chocolate cake filled with nutella buttercream and apricot jam and topped with more buttercream, flake, buttons, magic stars and a rose from her garden. Thank you for being so wonderful and for giving me life- you are literally the best x

Other than a fleeting relationship with coffee when I worked 5:30am shifts I’ve never really been much of a fan… until now, and Oh my god where has it been all my life?! My favourite is iced coffee but lately I’ve discovered and become obsessed with Pret’s orange spiced lattes. I tried one of the much-hyped Starbucks pumpkin spiced lattes the other day.. mingingly sweet and cloying, never again. So yes, I’m now a fully fledged coffee addict… great, another bad habit to add to the list!

Dressing gown

Oh hey boys, don’t I look sexy AF in my new and totally synthetic dressing gown…. NOT. Oh well, I absolutely love it and if you’re in the market for a new robe, I cannot recommend this one enough. Every time I put it on I feel like Princess Elsa from Frozen, and it’s the softest and snuggliest thing I’ve ever owned. Just don’t put a naked flame near me when I’m wearing it, please …

This article though

I have been LOLing ever since I read this on Twitter the other day, it’s amazing and hilarious. I wish I’d written her original tweet, and the article. Imagine being paid to do and write about that. I’m also now imagining which of my previous encounters actually would reply- oh my days.

Any men reading this blog, would you answer one if an ex sent you one? Tell me in the comments section below, I’m fascinated about people’s feelings on it. I would definitely do it if one came my way, I’m sniggering at the thought.

The best thing on TV right now

Anyone who follows me on Twitter will know that I am obsessed with C4’s First Dates. Despite having a slightly…chequered… background when it comes to dating and no matter how jaded I feel, I still absolutely delight in every aspect of this programme. I love love, and people falling in love, and romance- when it isn’t being done in a nauseating fashion, I think it’s a beautiful thing. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like First Dates, male or female. Plus the hashtag is sidesplittingly funny. 10/10, an absolute must-watch.

I’m sorry I haven’t been around here more, I’ve had a lot on, but the number of half-finished reviews I have sitting in my drafts is beyond a joke- so watch this space x

What have been your favourite things recently? And tell me your roast recommendations please, good ones- I’ve had a terrible run of it recently. Comment below or hit me up through all manner of social networks (links above and below)
